POSITION OVERVIEW

Part of your responsibilities will be to aide in maintaining and developing store strategies to increase sales expand store traffic and optimize profitability.  Meeting sales goals by training, motivating, mentoring and providing feedback to the team will help ensure these successes.

You will oversee the showroom sales floor and assistant the store manager in the success of your store.  Building a strong foundation, to achieve and exceed retail sales goals will be key in doing so.  In taking pride in your store, high visual standards will be encouraged.

The Retail Associate should exude professionalism and be well versed in all aspects of running a successful brick and mortar store, including providing excellent customer service. Working closely with the all retail team members to achieve but are not limited to, meeting sales expectations/goals, contributing Ideas and best practices, and maintaining/monitoring Inventory levels.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service
  • Welcomes customers by greeting them; offering them assistance.
  • Directs customers by escorting them to displays and counters; suggesting items.
  • Advises customers by providing information on products.
  • Helps customer make selections by building customer confidence; offering suggestions and opinions.
  • Maintain in-stock and presentable condition assigned areas
  • Actively seek out customers in store
  • Remain knowledgeable on products offered and discuss available options
  • Processes payments by totaling purchases; processing checks, cash, and store or other credit cards.
  • Keeps clientele informed by notifying them of preferred customer sales and future merchandise of potential interest.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven working experience as sales associate
  • Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
  • Working knowledge of customer and market dynamics and requirements
  • Track record of over-achieving sales quota
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Customer service focus
  • High school degree; BS degree in Marketing or related field would be a plus

JOB TITLE: Glaze Batcher

Glaze Batcher

Position Summary:

The Rookwood Pottery Company’s Glaze Batcher is responsible for the making and testing of glazes for the production team.

Essential Duties:

  • Complete all job duties within job description as assigned and within an acceptable range of performance.
  • Meeting deadlines as assigned.
  • Keep constant levels of production glazes/ bases.
  • Coordinate with Glaze and Kiln departments to glaze and fire batching tests as needed.
  • Have a solid comprehension of quality control standards for all glazes so that batch tests can be reviewed and released for use on production floor.
  • In the event of glaze failure, track possible causes and prepare solutions.
  • Communicate with necessary production members when issues arise or changes are made to a glaze formula or batching procedure.
  • Maintain paper, tile and server files.
  • Maintain hardcopy and server glaze logs, as well as emailing completed tasks to glaze chemistry and production management.
  • Understand and be able to adjust glazes for production.
  • Maintain constant levels of dry materials, and work with glaze technician on material orders.
  • Help test new material lots.
  • Must comply to wearing a respirator when mixing and handling dry materials.
  • Facilitation of a clean and organized department through the 5S program.
  • Identify areas for process improvement within the department and trial out new procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure a quality product is being produced.
  • Troubleshoot and correct faulty programming.
  • Follow all safety rules and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to be on your feet 8 hours a day and lift 50 lbs. or more.
  • Frequent bending over and reaching above your head.
  • Work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Ability to recognize problems and have them corrected immediately.
  • Commitment to a safe workplace.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
  • Ability to take personal responsibility for quality and timeliness of work.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

CAD Designer

The CAD Designer is responsible for translating design inspiration and rough sketches into polished drawings and renderings for residential and commercial tile installations. The role is a mix of technical, detail-oriented work and creative, big-picture thinking. In addition to daily responsibilities of producing tile drawings for customers, the CAD Designer will support the Sales team through research and development, internal tile layout work, and other design-related tasks. Flexibility, curiosity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential qualities for this position.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or interior design (or equivalent education/experience in a related field)
  • 1-2 years experience in an architecture or interior design firm
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Familiarity with architectural drawing conventions and standard dimensions for interior details (backsplashes, vanities, etc.)

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience with or interest in clay and ceramics
  • Experience in SketchUp, Rhino, or similar 3D design applications
  • A careful eye for color, pattern, and texture
  • Interest in and attention to Rookwood Pottery’s history and process
  • Clear, concise, and professional communication skills
  • Positive, people-oriented attitude to work collaboratively with the Rookwood Pottery team and with tile clients to deliver the best possible finished product
  • Knowledge and/or understanding of finishes, materials, and their applications
  • Understanding of basic principles of space planning and layout
  • Capable of demonstrating design strategies and adding creative suggestions that best suite the project

Slip Team Member

Position summary:

The Rookwood Pottery Company is seeking a Slip Team member for the Slip department.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Follow production protocols and schedules.
  • Meet daily production goals and independent training goals.
  • Learn and retain slip casting times for various molds.
  • Learn draining techniques.
  • Clean seam lines.
  • Open and close molds properly.
  • Operate and maintain machinery including, but not limited to slip tank, slip lines, and pump.
  • Operate dinnerware machines.
  • Sand green product and add detail that was lost in the seaming process.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure a quality product is being produced
  • QC product at all stages (wet/dry).
  • Flag and help trouble shoot issues with team and Team Lead.
  • Perform routine maintenance on all machinery and equipment as directed by Team Lead.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures (i.e. cell phone policy, time of requests, food policy, safety etc.)
  • Follow all PPE requirements with no more than 3 violations per quarter. Not clocking into jobs/work no more than 3 violations per quarter.
  • Participate in all process improvement exercises.
  • Must be open and flexible to the implementation of new production procedures.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in the Slip department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Prefer manufacturing and/or ceramic experience.
  • Must be able to be on/off your feet 8 hours a day and lift up to 50lbs. or more with assistance.
  • Frequent bending over and reaching above your head.
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to recognize problems and flag Team Lead/Supervisors for assistance.
  • Must be organized and able to multitask.
  • Commitment to a safe work place.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and written.
  • Basic computer skills.

POSITION OVERVIEW

 

Rookwood’s Marketing Manager must be an entrepreneurial communications leader who thrives in a fast-paced workplace and is energized by fostering awareness of the company’s unique heritage and brand.

 

The Marketing Manager is a key leader on the Rookwood marketing team, leading and supporting the company’s marketing initiatives, including project management, writing and editing, research and analysis, and online presence. The Marketing Manager closely aligns with departments across the organization and utilizes a “can do” attitude to build relationships with sales, production, retail, and commemorative, as well as external vendors and partners. This position also encompasses managing and strategizing around events and public relations campaigns.

 

The Marketing Manager must have first-rate writing and editing skills, campaign-based social media experience, and a deft eye for detail and process.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Marketing

  • Assist in the development of ideal customer personas, and gather competitive landscape insight in both pottery and tile categories
  • Collaborate inside and outside the organization to drive consensus and cultivate strong relationships with partner organizations
  • Communicate needs to the creative team for creation and execution of marketing materials
  • Work in collaboration with sales teams to develop action plans, and achieve results forecasted
  • Manage the continued buildout of Salesforce platform systems in collaboration with sales team, web manager, and technical consultants.

Public Relations

  • Manage public relations campaigns, from brainstorming through execution, analysis, and evaluation
  • Help develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for all public relations and communications in line with overall strategies and mission
  • Ability to structure and present complex topics on the page or in person, then tell that story in the marketplace
  • Identify the best story ideas and media channels across product lines
  • Work collaboratively with leadership to define key messaging
  • Oversee creation and distribution of media kits
  • Develop and foster strong relationships with local and industry related media.

 

Project Management

  • Manage project timelines, trafficking, monitor and report on project progress.
  • Organize projects and conversations on Basecamp, Dropbox, and outlook to streamline notes and keep teams on track
  • Lead weekly, project-based, and campaign-based cross-functional meetings and presentations to keep channel execution on track
  • Manage creative assets and Creative/Marketing requests for media trafficking related to assigned projects, including the development of process requests and workflows
  • Manage content creation across social channels, e-mail marketing campaigns and website.
  • Assist in managing vendor and contractor relationships related to projects
  • Lead related project management training and onboard Rookwood team members

 

Events:

  • Manage deliverables for store events, sponsorship opportunities, and industry conferences
  • Facilitate on-site and pre-event needs for company events to include developing team training and coordinating creative and marketing deliverables
  • Gather post-event insights and record findings
